Assistant Researcher
MARINE BIOLOGY

Research Interests

  • Understanding microbial and viral interactions through large-scale metagenomic, single cell/virion genomics and cultivation based approaches.
  • Investigate host-virus interactions in a more constrained manner to identify linkages between phytoplankton population fitness and viral infection.
  • Develop and employ real-time monitoring using 3rd generation long read sequencing on algal commercial culturing while integrating system-level functional relationships between elite algae and the microvirome.

Education

  • PhD in Oceanography, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, 2011
  • BS in Biological Sciences, Washington State University, 2002
